Alice McKinley

In case some of you were wondering about the fate of the Alice series, here’s an update from Mrs. Phyllis Reynolds Naylor herself:

Phyllis replied:

Here is the real answer. The very last book, #28, “Always Alice,” is already written but it’s not been submitted. It’s sitting here in a fireproof box in my office, with instructions to my sons, in case I check out early, to send it immediately to my publisher. The book coming out next year, “Alice in Charge,” is book # 25. I still have books # 26 and #27 to write, and don’t have titles for them yet. So there will be four more books to read after “Intensely Alice,” unless I get hit by a bread truck or something, and I’ll try not to let that happen.

i’ve been reading the Alice books since for a long time too. I was 12 when I started. Wanna know how old I am now? 25. I own all the Alice books thus far. My friends think I’m a little strange for still reading an adolescent book over and over. I keep reading because Alice has become a friend to me. Along with Elizabeth, Pamela, and Patrick. The thought of having to say good-bye to Alice and the gang breaks my heart. A part of me can’t wait to read the last book to find out what happens to everybody and the other part doesn’t want the series to end. The Alice series is just oh so good!
