Wind Chill
Do not underestimate it. It will be your biggest adversary in the cold weather. It may be 27 degrees, but it will feel like 7 degrees. Damn wind chill.

Being a Southern Californian, I am not at all suited for the snow, yet alone the cold weather. The most snow I’ve seen was probably back during outdoor ed in sixth grade (and that’s only because El Nino occurred that year). I’ve only seen snow fall twice in my life and the second time was only two months ago when I was in Nashville. You can imagine my lack of preparedness when I came to Cleveland where the sight of snow was as far as the eye could see. My two days consisted of abnormally (for me, at least) low temperatures and almost constant snow fall. I cannot imagine how people survive in such conditions.
Where do you sit? Where do you walk? How do you function? What kind of place is this?
